UK began snapping up .xxx domain names in an effort to prevent **ographers from exploiting its name and its trademark. This way,OU has joined many other universities worldwide in buying .XXX domain names. UK registered trademarks that includes the following domains : Kentucky.xxx,UniversityofKentucky.xxx and BigBluenation.XXX .Moreover,UK said that he is also attempting to register .xxx domain names associated with athletic teams before April,such as UkCheerleaders.xxx and UKAthletics.xxx .

Other Universities and schools also rushed to register their .XXX domain names.llinois State University registered IllinoisState.XXX , RedBirds.xxx and StateYourPassion.xxx .Penn State University also acquired four .XXX domain names : Penn State, PSU, Nittany Lions and The Pennsylvania State University,while East Carolina University registered a total of eight .XXX domains,such as eastcarolina.xxx, ecu.xxx,eastcarolinauniversity.xxx,eastcarolinauniversitypirates.xxx and leojenkinscancercenter.xxx .

Another University who decided to protect the schools trademark from being used **ographers is the University of Notre Dame,who decided to register four .XXX domains,notredame.xxx, universityofnotredame.xxx, fightinirish.xxx and domer.xxx,spending on them $1,319.96 .

The University of Texas manage to register so far TexassPorts.xxx,TexasBoxOffice.xxx and Hookemhorns.xxx domain names ,while BYU managed to register so far BYU.XXX and BrighamYoungUniversity.XXX.

Even though many Universities rushed to protect their trademarks and decided to register .xxx domain names,other Universities opted to closely monitor the Internet to see if anyone infringes their trademarks .
