At Hostmonster.com, we continue to strive to always provide the best services
possible. We upgrade your hosting packages to include more space, more bandwidth,
and more e-mail accounts without ever increasing your hosting fees. We also
upgrade our servers to provide you with more resources at your disposal. It is
our way of showing our appreciation for your business and support.
In continued effort to provide the best possible hosting experience, we will soon be
performing an upgrade on our outbound mail system. This update is scheduled to happen
in one week, and will affect all e-mail accounts on your server. To most users, the
only noticeable change will be more reliable e-mail delivery. To very few customers,
this change may cause a temporary inability to send messages. The good news is that
this temporary inability is entirely preventable!
For over a year, we have encouraged customers who use an e-mail client such as Outlook
or Apple's Mail to use authentication when connecting to us via SMTP to send a message.
This helps ensure reliable e-mail delivery for all customers who are on a server.
Starting one week from today, this will be required for all outbound mail communication.
For customers who have not yet enabled this option in their e-mail clients, or are unsure
whether they are using outbound e-mail authentication, we have developed an entire
collection of video tutorials which demonstrate how to do this. Please visit the
following link for detailed steps relating to your favorite e-mail program.

An additional alternative is also available. Most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) such
as Comcast or Verizon include SMTP in your internet package. Often using ISPs for your
outbound e-mail can result in fast, reliable mail delivery with very little effort on
your part due to powerful partnerships and sway with spam reporting and blacklisting
services.
Hostmonster.com's outgoing mail servers send mail from over 1.5 million domains and
email content varies from personal messages, mailing lists, advertisements, and newsletters.
These types of services are more skeptical of shared web hosts and tend to make us do a
lot of work to get our mail through rather than just trusting our name as they would with
a big ISP.
For more information on how to use your ISP for your outgoing e-mail, please contact your
Internet Service Provider.
Thank you again for hosting with Hostmonster.com. Your business is very important to us.
