VPS vs. VDSVirtual Private Servers and Virtual Dedicated Servers are based on the virtualization software Virtuozzo from SW-Soft.Differences between VPS and VDS:

VDS are generally bigger and faster
VDS have a much higher guaranteed hardware performance (CPU og RAM)

The host systems of VPS are booked up closer than the ones for VDS. This means that VPS do not have the same available performance as VDS do. Furthermore the performance for VPS may vary when many VPS are utilized at the same time with high loads. Therefore VPS are mostly recommended for smaller projects, while VDS have high guaranteed performance, and can be compared with real dedicated servers. The booking of host systems could look like this:

Independent of your choice of server, it is never possible for any given virtual server to crash other servers because of too high load. Implemented hard limits prevent single servers from extensive use of the host’s resources.

这个拓扑图意思是vps里的资源有一部分是共享的，而VDS在硬件上是完全独立。
